What It Is
5-Amino-1MQ is not a peptide — it's a small molecule NNMT inhibitor. NNMT (nicotinamide N-methyltransferase) is an enzyme that's overactive in obesity. It chews up the precursor your body needs to make NAD+, reducing your NAD+ levels and promoting fat storage. Blocking NNMT with 5-Amino-1MQ restores NAD+ levels and shifts fat cells from "storage mode" to "metabolic mode."
How It Works
Inhibits NNMT, preventing it from methylating and inactivating nicotinamide (the NAD+ precursor). This increases the available pool for NAD+ synthesis via the salvage pathway, elevating intracellular NAD+ levels. Higher NAD+ activates sirtuins and enhances mitochondrial function. Simultaneously, NNMT inhibition reverses the pro-fat-storage gene expression profile in adipocytes.
