What It Is
CagriSema is cagrilintide + semaglutide in a single injection. Two different appetite hormones, two different receptor pathways, one shot. It's Novo Nordisk's next-gen answer to tirzepatide — the idea is that dual-pathway appetite suppression via amylin + GLP-1 produces more weight loss than maximizing either one alone.
How It Works
Amylin pathway (cagrilintide) acts on brainstem appetite centers and slows gastric emptying. GLP-1 pathway (semaglutide) acts on hypothalamic appetite circuits and peripheral metabolic targets. The two pathways don't overlap, so combining them gives you additive suppression of appetite from two different angles.
What The Research Shows
Phase 2: up to 22.7% weight loss over 32 weeks — beating semaglutide alone (15.8%) and cagrilintide alone (8.1%).
REDEFINE-1 Phase 3: 24.6% weight loss at 68 weeks.
May become the strongest weight loss injection on the market if Phase 3 results hold.
