DSIP
What It Is
DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a natural nonapeptide first isolated from rabbit brains during induced sleep in 1977. Despite the name, it doesn't just knock you out — it normalizes sleep architecture. It increases slow-wave (delta) sleep without suppressing REM, which is the opposite of what most sleep drugs do. It also modulates stress hormones and has analgesic properties.
How It Works
DSIP modulates GABA, glutamate, and opioid systems simultaneously. It doesn't force sleep — it normalizes the sleep process by improving the quality and proportion of delta sleep (the most restorative phase). It also dampens the HPA stress axis (reducing cortisol) and modulates endogenous opioids (pain perception). The multi-system effect is why it's studied for insomnia, stress, and chronic pain.
