HCG
What It Is
HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) mimics LH (luteinizing hormone) in the body. In males, LH tells Leydig cells in the testes to produce testosterone. HCG does the same thing. This is why it's used to maintain testicular function and testosterone production during protocols that would otherwise suppress the HPG axis. It also maintains fertility by keeping spermatogenesis active.
How It Works
HCG binds to the same receptor as LH (the LHCG receptor) on testicular Leydig cells, stimulating testosterone production. It has a much longer half-life than LH (24-36 hours vs 20 minutes), providing sustained stimulation. In females, it mimics the LH surge that triggers ovulation.
