What It Is
LL-37 is your body's own antibiotic — the only human cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide. It's produced by immune cells and skin cells as a first-line defense against bacteria, viruses, and fungi. How It Works
LL-37 kills microbes by punching holes in their membranes (it's positively charged, microbial membranes are negatively charged — electrostatic attraction + membrane disruption). But it's more than just an antimicrobial: it acts as a chemotactic signal (recruiting immune cells), promotes wound healing (stimulating epithelial cell migration and angiogenesis), and neutralizes LPS (bacterial endotoxin).
