PNC-27
What It Is
PNC-27 is an anti-cancer peptide designed to selectively destroy cancer cells based on a protein they express on their surface (HDM-2) that normal cells keep inside. It's a targeted kill mechanism — it punches holes in cancer cell membranes while leaving normal cells completely untouched.
How It Works
Cancer cells overexpress HDM-2 protein on their surface (normal cells keep it intracellular). PNC-27 binds to surface HDM-2 and forms pores in the cancer cell membrane, causing necrotic cell death. Normal cells without surface HDM-2 are unaffected — this is the selectivity mechanism.

Selectively killed pancreatic, breast, and leukemia cancer cells while sparing normal cells in vitro.
Kills via membrane disruption (necrosis) — potentially circumventing apoptosis-resistance in cancer.
No cytotoxicity to normal fibroblasts, lymphocytes, or epithelial cells.
