Selank
What It Is
Selank is the anxiolytic counterpart to semax. While semax is for focus and cognition, selank is for anxiety and calm. It's derived from tuftsin (an immune peptide) and approved in Russia for generalized anxiety disorder. The key selling point: it reduces anxiety as effectively as benzodiazepines but without the sedation, cognitive impairment, or addiction risk.
How It Works
Selank modulates GABA (the brain's calming neurotransmitter) without directly binding to GABA receptors — meaning it increases GABA's effects without the tolerance, dependence, and sedation issues of benzos. It also boosts BDNF, stabilizes the endogenous opioid system (enkephalins), and influences serotonin metabolism. The result is anxiolysis with preserved cognitive function.
